About
Louise Wood
Born in Edinburgh in 1951 and brought up in the Scottish Borders, Louise has drawn and painted all her life. After studying at the Byam Shaw School of Art in London she began her professional career painting dogs and horses.

During the 1970s and 1980s Louise was known for her portraits of horses including the racehorses "Dawn Run" and "Desert Orchid", but was best known for her paintings and prints of dogs, particularly of Jack Russell terriers.
Her limited editions of prints all sold out, and her range of mugs, trays, table mats etc. depicting terriers were hugely popular. She exhibited her work in galleries in the UK, Ireland and America.

Louise is married to Tipperary based artist Peter Curling. She has resumed her career by renewing her interest in sculpting. Much helped by the Sculptor Mark Coreth who Peter shared an exhibition with in Dublin in 2018, Louise's Limited Edition Bronze Sculptures capture the speed of racehorses and greyhounds in action.
